This is perhaps the best place to find gifts for the holidays, with plenty of art, crafts, jewelry, clothing and more to choose from. All sold directly from the makers to you, plus a demonstration booth and even a bar at the far end of Plaza Nueva. More information on the holidays can be found in this month's feature.

Betis Barsa NFL Playoffs

You can catch every game, either live or tape delayed in the Texas Lone Star Saloon, located a block from the Cathedral on calle Placentines. With 13 large flat screen televisions and plenty of American ambience, this is one of the best places in the city to watch the NFL playoffs. It is recommended to arrive early to get a good seat. If you happen to have Digital Plus (Spanish satelite) you can catch the games on Sportmania, Canal Plus Deportes and Canal Plus.




Cabalgata de los Reyes
Location: Center, Nervión, Triana
Dates: 5 January
This exists in many forms on the 5th of January. Much like a Christmas parade back home, the Reyes Magos throw candies to the children as they pass through the streets in a procession. There are many to see, from the larger procession in the center to the cabalgadas organized in many of the neighborhoods such as Nervión and Triana. The streets will be terribly sticky for a few days, so take off your shoes at the door when you get home!



Cirque Soleil Cirque du Soleil "Varekai"
Location: Charco de la Pava (Triana)
Dates: 29 January - ?? March
After a very successful show two years ago, the Cirque du Soleil is back in Seville with "Varekai" for January, February and held over through some time in March. The location is in Charco de la Pava, the future site of the Feria de Abril. Tickets will be going quickly, and can be purchased through El Corte Ingles among other places. We were there on opening night for Drailon, and were most impressed with the main features of the Chinese acrobats. We hope to get there on opening night for Varekai!


 

Cirque du Soleil -Dralion
Location: Charco de la Pava (Triana)
Dates: 19 January - 26 February
After a very successful show two years ago, the Cirque du Soleil is back in Seville for January and February with Drailon, this time in Charco de la Pava, the future site of the Feria de Abril. The holiday shopping season is over, and overstock is on sale. Stores are clearing inventory for spring and you can't pass a store without seeing a "Rebajas" sign. Anyway, as January is a slow month you can take a stroll through the center and find just about anything on sale.
