NCAA TourneyNCAA Tournament
Location: on ESPN America / Internet / Canal Plus
Dates: 14 March - 2 April
web:
ncaa.com/march-madness
Of course there are no tournaments being held in Seville, but if you find a bar with ESPN America you may be in luck finding a game from this weekend's tournaments. Bars with the channel include Texas Lone Star Saloon, O'Neill's and Merchants Malt House. Many games will be live. After visiting several establishments, looks like the Tex Mex bar does the best job. Others once again turned me away because of futbol matches! Keep in mind the start times - most bars will be closed for early morning games!

Semana Santa
Location: Seville
Dates: 16 - 23 March
Semana Santa is Holy Week and Sevilla’s celebration is likely the most famous in the world. Whether you are religious or not there’s something to enjoy and I guarantee you won't see anything like it anywhere else. There are more than 55 church brotherhoods, some dating as far back as the 13th century, which take part in Semana Santa, carrying over 115 different floats, or pasos, through the streets of Sevilla. Nazarenos accompany the pasos in the march and in some cases number more than 2,000.

St Patrick's Day in SevilleSt Patrick's Day
Location: An Irish pub close to you
Dates: 17 March

St. Patrick's Day should offer up some fun in Seville. Just don't expect the river to be green, or a big parade. But as always, pints of Guiness and green beer should be on special in many of Seville's irish pubs. You'll likely find some live music, as well as a few gifts from the Irish beer distributors. With Flaherty's closed one of the bigger celebrations is no more, but it's not hard to find an Irish pub in Seville. If you aren't sure which is the closest location then check my listings in the Nightlife section.

Falling on a Friday night, this year's St. Patrick's Day should offer a little more fun than usual in Seville. Don't expect the river to be green, or a big parade. Now in it's 26th year, the Seville City Marathon begins and ends in the Olympic Stadium, just outside the city center. Show up to see them start around 9 in the morning, or finish some 3 - 5 hours later. Many streets will be blocked so you can likely find a spot around the city to see the action. Good thing it is on a Sunday to keep the traffic problems to a minimum. Many feel this is a good race to begin the season - the flat course and mild February temperatures help!
